Teliamura, Mar 03. A long-standing dispute over land acquisition for a railway crossing in the Nayanpur area of Teliamura subdivision was finally resolved on Monday due to the timely intervention of Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma. For around two years, local farmers, landowners, and the sub-divisional administration were in parleys over land valuation and compensation. Despite repeated efforts, none of the parties could arrive at a consensus. In order to resolve the deadlock, Minister Bikash Debbarma convened a meeting at SDM office premises on Monday. In the presence of affected families, the Minister mediated the talks between both the parties and ultimately a consensus was worked out. Speaking on the issue, Tribal Welfare Minister Debbarma said, “The government is committed to ensure that farmers and common people do not suffer any losses due to land acquisition processes. I am happy that the affected families have agreed to the deal offered by the administration. As many as 26 families will receive their due compensation once they vacate the land.”
