Matabari development: MoS Gopi assures full support from Centre

Agartala, July 11: The Central Government would extend full support for the further development of Tripurasundari temple at Udaipur, Union Minister of State for Tourism, Petroleum, and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi said on Thursday.
Before concluding his three-day visit to the state on Thursday, the MoS accompanied by state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited Matabari, one of the key religious tourist destinations in Tripura, and reviewed the on-going development works under PRASAD scheme. The MoS expressed his satisfaction with the work progress.
The Tripureshwari Temple is currently undergoing significant renovations under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme, aimed at enhancing the site to boost tourism. This project, initiated two years ago, is progressing rapidly, with an allocated budget of Rs.37 crore. However, Chowdhury indicated that the project cost is expected to rise.
The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Tripura state tourism department, has undertaken a comprehensive plan to revitalize the Tripurasundari Temple. Detailed outlines for the renovation have been developed, and work is in full swing. During the visit, Union Minister was briefed on the various aspects of the on-going project by Chowdhury.
Key officials present during the visit included Uttam Kumar Chakma, Secretary of the Tourism Department, and Aniruddha Roy, Joint Director, among others.
The MoS also visited the ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited’s thermal power plant at Palatana, Gomati District, which falls under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas before his departure for Delhi.
