Udaipur, Jan 09: The state finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the three days long Jal Utsav at Udaipur Maharani Gram Panchayat ground. The Matabari R D Block has organised the Utsav jointly with the department of Information and Cultural Affairs.

MLA Abhishek Deb Rai, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Jitendra Majumder, Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Sheetal Chandra Majumder and others were present in the inauguration programme.

Addressing the gathering, minister Pranajit Singha Roy called for a collective effort in water conservation and to prevent wastage of water. He said that the prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to ensure pollution free rivers and preserve the water bodies. 9 exhibition pavilions are opened in the Jal Utsav by various government departments.

PM Modi had launched Namami Gange to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga, he said, adding that it is not only the responsibility of the government, but also the general people should come forward to keep the river Gomati in Tripura free from pollution.
