Modern Data Centre to come up in Tripura, land allocated: IT Minister

Agartala, Jan 11: Minister for Information Technology Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday informed the Tripura Legislative Assembly that a modern Data Centre would come up in the state and the government already allocated land for the proposed project.
He said, The IT Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIXI-CSC Data Service Limited for setting up a three-tier Data Centre. He also said, 1 acre of land has been allocated to M/s Bharati Airtel Limited for the project.
According to the IT Minister, the project would see investment of over Rs. 200 crore and generate employment scopes to around 200 people.
He was speaking in the House in reference to a private member resolution moved by MLA Abhishek Debroy.
The minister also informed the House that another investor- M/s PVM Invensys Private Limited placed a proposal to the state government for setting up a tier-four Data Centre with investment of Rs. 100 crore. If the proposal gets approval, the project would generate employment opportunities to over 100 people, he said.
Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury and MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath also participated in discussions on the resolution.
The IT Minister said, various IT companies already opened their offices in the state and employed a good number of local youths.
He also said, to achieve the goal of ‘Digital Tripura’, the state government would approach renowned IT companies from across the country and abroad in future to invest in the state and all necessary assistance would be extended.
