Poshan Month: Tinku highlights Govt. efforts to support holistic development of children and mothers in State

Agartala Sept 28: The present state government is committed towards enhancing services for children and mothers through Anganwadi Centres across the state, said Social Education and Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy as he inaugurated the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Mah program on Saturday in Sepahijala district.
Addressing the program, Minister Tinku Roy announced several initiatives aimed at improving the infrastructure and services of Anganwadi centres.
He stated that Smart Classes would be introduced in every Anganwadi centre within the next year, and efforts are underway to ensure 100% electrification of these centres.
Roy further emphasized the importance of community involvement in preventing child marriage, noting that administrative measures alone are insufficient.
He said, “Currently, 2,97,857 children are receiving nutritious food at Anganwadi centres in the state. Since the current government took office, 334 new Anganwadi centres have been established, including 150 in polluted areas. An additional 88 centres are planned to open within the next year”.
District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal in his address, underscored the critical role of Anganwadi centres in the physical development of children and expectant mothers.
Several other dignitaries including Bishalgarh Municipal Council Chairperson Anjan Purkayastha, District Council Member Gauranga Bhowmik, District Chief Health Officer Dr. Debashis Das, District Education Officer Malay Bhowmik, and Joint Director of the Social Welfare and Social Education Department Arun Debbarma also took part in the program.
Thousands of Anganwadi workers from the district participated in the event. Besides, awards were presented to two healthy children and ten Anganwadi workers, and nutrition kits were distributed to twenty pregnant women.
