Agartala Nov 25: In a display of frustration and anger over poor quality road construction work, residents of Nath Para, Reshambagan under Khayerpur assemble constituency blocked the Jirania-Agartala prime road, in protest.

The local populace, frustrated with the shoddy workmanship, alleged use of substandard materials in road construction work, demanding an immediate halt to the low-quality work being carried out.

Talking to the reporters, one of the protesting villagers said, “Instead of using proper road construction materials, the workers on duty- as directed by the contractor in-charge are using substandard materials, which compromises the quality and durability of the road”.

Voicing their grievances, another protester said, “When we raised concerns with the contractor, instead of rectifying his work, he threatened us with dire consequences. He also asked us to pay the labourers if we do not agree with the work-quality”.

The residents urged the authorities to take immediate action and ensure that the construction work meets the required standards, providing them with a safe and durable road.

However, the protest was withdrawn by the locals after the contractor called them for a meeting to find out a solution for the issue.
