School under ADC runs on teachers’ whims

Teliamura, Mar 04.The school education system in some selected areas under the TTAADC administration is apparently running into shambles due to the lack of supervision from the concerned authorities.
Schools are being opened and classes are adjourned as per the whims of the teachers posted there. The standard school schedule is disregarded and teachers don’t hesitate to come late and leave early.
According to locals of the area, the 36 Miles Primary School under the ADC administration in the Atharamura Hills of Mungiakami Block is in total chaos. Parents in the area have alleged that students arrive at school in the morning only to wait for teachers to unlock the gates. They cannot enter the school unless and until the teachers turn up. And, none of them report on time.
As per standard rules, classes in Primary Schools are supposed to start at 7:00 AM in the winters and at 6:30 in the other seasons.
In this school teachers reportedly unlock the gate for the students at around 8:45 AM or sometimes even 9:00 AM.
Parents further revealed that the school has around 48 students and five teachers. Out of the five teachers, two have been discharging their duties elsewhere in deputation and one of them is on casual leave.
So, all the responsibilities are now on the shoulders of two teachers—Chinu Pual and Parimal Debnath. On Tuesday, teacher Parimal Debnath entered the school at 9:10 AM in the morning. When media persons of the local area asked him the reason behind his late arrival, Debnath replied that he got late because his house is far away from the school. The other teacher was absent.
