SLBC meet: Tripura CM asks Banks to come forward for development of Tourism

Agartala, Aug 04: Banks need to come forward for developing the Tourism considering the state’s potential in this sector, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
The Chief Minister, who chaired the 140th State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, said the banks need to be aware of the state government’s priority sectors; it would help make specific plans for the state’s financial growth.
The Chief Minister also said, there is a scope of making the youth self-reliant by providing loans under Mudra Yojana and Start-up India. In this regard, he asked the banks to play a positive role.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha stressed on organizing loan recovery camps by the banks in more numbers. He assured all possible assistance from the state government in this regard.
Taking part in the discussions, DGM of Punjab National Bank Anand Kumar highlighted the detailed programmes of the SLBC.
He said, the banks have set a target for 100 percent disbursement in the primary and other sectors under the Annual Credit Plan 2022-23.
He informed the meeting that the banks had already disbursed Rs. 1131.36 crore in primary sectors including agriculture, micro, small and medium industries till June in the current year. Besides, as many as 12,170 farmers (KCC card holders) have been given loan of Rs. 77.72 crore.
He also said, till June of the Financial year 2022-23, 21 SC and ST beneficiaries have been given loan of Rs. 2,10,96,000 and 38,021 bank account holders have been given loan of Rs. 228.82 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
Finance Secretary Brijesh Pandey, Principal Secretary of Revenue department Puneet Agarwal, chief executive officer of PNB- Atul Kumar Goyal, general manager of PNB- Sakshi Gopal Saha, general manager of RBI Agartala Satwant Singh Sahota and other SLBC representatives were present in the meeting.
