Agartala Nov 30: Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed deep concern over the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, particularly in Chittagong.
During a press briefing, held at the state BJP headquarters in the capital city, party’s state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee highlighted the alarming situation and emphasized the need for international intervention. He suggested that various organizations are considering approaching the International Court of Justice to address the issue.
In his address, Bhattacharjee pointed out that Chittagong, which had a 97 percent non-Muslim population during the partition, is now witnessing severe persecution of minorities.
Bhattacharjee stressed the pressing need for international attention to address these human rights violations.
Speaking about the massive success of the recently concluded ‘Namo Yuva Rally’ in the state, Nabendu announced ‘surpassing of the party’s target of 12 lakh new members’.
Highlighting support and response from the citizens for the party, Bhattacharjee said, “We have enrolled 9,48,901 members online, with 3,767 applications under review due to incomplete data. Offline, 2,31,571 members have joined, taking our total membership beyond 12 lakh”.
“The process is still going on and we are confidant of achieving a new record in the state”, he added.
The party spokesperson also expressed gratitude towards the state government and chief minister Dr Manik Saha for announcing recruitment into various government departments.
He commended the government's proactive approach in addressing employment issues, highlighting these initiatives as crucial for the state's development.
He further emphasized the BJP government's commitment to empowering the youth and ensuring their self-reliance, which has attracted people towards their administration.
Meanwhile, addressing the issue of handing over ‘Pushpabanta Palace to the TAJ Group’, Bhattacharjee said, “The people of Tripura are aware how the BJP led government respects the Manikya dynasty. It is under this present government when Agartala Airport has been renamed under Maharaja Bir Bikram”.
