Agartala Dec 30: Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday laid the foundation stone of Multi-level parking station cum commercial complex to be constructed at Old Motor Stand area of the capital city.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav, Corporator Ratna Dutta and other officials took part in the Bhumi-Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony along with the chief minister.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Dr Manik Saha said, “Tripura has seen a radical change in almost every sphere in these 4.8 years of BJP governance”.
“Development is visible throughout the state and quality of life has upgraded unprecedentedly”, said the chief minister.
Praising the project the chief minister said, “The multi-level parking system will help to decongest the Agartala city and is going to be the tallest building in the entire North-east region with a height of approximately 50 meters”.
The chief minister urged the officials to complete the project within the estimated time.
He said, “Taking up of a project is not sufficient. But it needs to be completed within the stipulated time so that another project can be taken up”.
The Mayor Dipak Majumder said that the initiative to build multi-level car parking has been taken to free Agartala city from traffic congestion.
“Work will begin from today itself with the Bhumi Puja”, he said.
The Mayor expressed hope that once the multi-level car parking is built, the problem of parking in Agartala city will be solved.
The property is a private-public partnership and the state government has leased the land for construction to a private company for 30 years. The total cost of construction will be around Rs 200 crore.
The multi-storey parking station will have a parking facility of at least 280 cars at a time that will decongest the capital city. Apart from that, a modern market system, multiplexes, hotels, shopping malls etc. will be introduced in the building.
