Youth held from Agartala Rly station with 1.5 kg gold

Agartala, Mar 20: The GRP unit of Agartala railway station detained a youth with 1.5 kg gold in his possession.
An officer of the GRP unit said, the youth- Abul Basar is a resident of Sonamura in Sepahijala district.
The detainee revealed during the preliminary interrogation that he was about to travel to Guwahati, the officer said, adding that the GRP staff detained him just before departure of Tejas Express.
During the search, 1.5 kg gold bar along with Rs. 6710 was found in the possession of the youth. The estimated value of the seized gold is Rs. 1 crore, the officer said, adding that the gold was handed over to Customs.
Police are hopeful that more details would be revealed in further investigation.
Meanwhile, the smugglers and human trafficking agents are reportedly using Agartala railway station as a safe corridor despite strict surveillance by the security agencies.
