
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday stressed the need to complete urban development projects within the stipulated time while maintaining high quality standards and ensuring proper maintenance after completion.Â
He said that regular monitoring and timely delivery of civic services are essential for planned urban growth and improved public welfare.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while reviewing the progress of various development projects undertaken by the Urban Development Department and urban local bodies at the TIFT War Room, Agartala.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Vaheed A, Director of Urban Development Megha Jain, TUDA Commissioner Mihirkanti Gope, along with senior officials from several departments. Officials presented department-wise updates on ongoing projects.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed authorities to expedite the completion of projects under TUDA and to finish the work at Agartala’s Junction Gate at the earliest. He also emphasized the importance of completing the under-construction Lighthouse project near the Akhaura border in Agartala.
To strengthen public healthcare services, the Chief Minister instructed officials to complete the City Hospital project on priority. He further directed that the installation of CCTV cameras in urban areas across the state be completed quickly to enhance security and modernization.
In order to improve pedestrian safety and reduce accidents, the Chief Minister also instructed officials to install railings along footpaths. He highlighted the importance of the Gomati riverfront development project in Udaipur and stressed regular maintenance of pump houses, including the construction of new pump houses wherever necessary.
He also directed that work under the Swachh Bharat Mission should continue without interruption.
Expressing satisfaction, the Chief Minister noted that the construction of Pink Toilets in 20 urban areas of the state is nearing completion. To preserve the city’s heritage, he instructed the development of the Vivekananda Gymnasium at Gangail Road in Agartala and the construction of an additional concrete ghat at the pond in Shantipara.
Focusing on environmental protection, the Chief Minister suggested that Agartala Municipal Corporation explore initiatives for proper storage or recycling of idols after festivals. He also emphasized the need for regular door-to-door garbage collection and consistent solid waste management operations.
The meeting also reviewed progress under several major schemes including the Urban Development Project, Satellite Township Project, AMRUT 2.0, Asian Development Bank-assisted projects, Smart City Mission, city beautification projects, SASCI scheme, and the Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalpa.
The Chief Minister said that timely completion of welfare-oriented projects along with maintaining quality will further strengthen the administration’s accountability towards the people. He added that the present government is working towards building a beautiful and well-planned Tripura by developing modern infrastructure and improving civic services in Agartala and other towns across the state.
