Former Chief Minister and present Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb placed devotion and cultural heritage at the forefront while participating in the Jagannath Rath Yatra festival organised by Jogendranagar Adarsha Yuba Sangstha.Â
Â
Pulling the sacred chariot alongside devotees, Deb prayed for the welfare of all and extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion.
Â
Speaking at the celebration, Deb described the Rath Yatra as “a unique festival of devotion, love and joy that carries the eternal message of service, sacrifice and unity.” He said the act of pulling the chariot is a deeply emotional experience for devotees, strengthening bonds of harmony and togetherness.
Â
The MP further reflected on India’s rich cultural legacy, noting that despite repeated attempts by rulers across history to undermine it, Indian culture has endured through its own strength and continues to thrive. “Our traditions are timeless, and they will remain unbroken in the future as well,” Deb asserted.
Â
He also highlighted the symbolic presence of elephants in Rath Yatra processions, calling them not merely decorative but enduring icons of strength, fortune, prosperity and royal dignity in Indian culture. “From ancient times, adorned elephants have led religious processions, festivals and temple traditions, and their presence in Jagannath’s Rath Yatra remains a powerful cultural symbol,” Deb said.
Â
The festival drew a large gathering of devotees, creating a vibrant atmosphere of faith and festivity.Â
