The Forum of Civil Pensioners Association, Tripura State Committee organized a mass sit-in demonstration near Circuit House in Agartala on Wednesday, pressing for immediate redressal of long-pending demands and grievances of retired government employees.
Â
The programme saw participation from a large number of pensioners and association members, who gathered peacefully to highlight the difficulties faced even after years of service in government jobs.Â
Â
Speakers at the event stressed that pensioners continue to struggle with unresolved issues related to pension disbursement, benefits, and welfare measures, and urged the state government to act without delay.
Â
Leaders of the association reminded the gathering that repeated appeals have been made to the authorities over the years, but progress has remained slow. They emphasized that the government must adopt a positive and proactive approach to safeguard the interests of pensioners, who represent a significant section of society.
Â
During the speeches, calls were made for pensioners to remain united and continue their movement through democratic means until their legitimate rights are secured. The leadership reiterated that discussions have already taken place at various levels, but unless demands are implemented swiftly, the association would be compelled to launch larger programmes of protest in the coming days.
Â
The sit-in drew considerable response among pensioners, reflecting widespread frustration over delays in addressing their concerns. The association concluded the event by appealing to the government and relevant authorities for urgent intervention, stressing that peaceful demonstrations would continue until concrete steps are taken.
