
A tribute programme was organised at Zero Point in Agartala on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Tripura’s late Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.Â
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha paid floral tribute to the portrait of the former ruler at the beginning of the programme.
Speaking to reporters after paying homage, the Chief Minister highlighted Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s life, ideals, visionary outlook and significant contributions to the development of Tripura.
The Chief Minister described Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya as a visionary and progressive ruler.Â
He said several important initiatives in education, culture, connectivity, urban planning and other areas of development were undertaken during the Maharaja’s reign, many of which continue to hold a special place in Tripura’s history.
Dr. Saha said the Maharaja’s contribution to the development of modern Tripura was immense. His vision and development plans were far ahead of their time, he said, stressing the importance of acquainting the present generation with the Maharaja’s ideals and work and preserving the memory of his contributions.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy, Ward No. 20 corporator Ratna Dutta, other elected representatives of the civic body, party leaders, and prominent citizens were present at the tribute programme.
Those attending the event also paid floral tributes to the portrait of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and recalled his historic role and contributions to Tripura’s development.Â
Speakers emphasised the importance of carrying his ideals and legacy forward to future generations. His visionary approach and development- oriented initiatives continue to be regarded as a source of inspiration for the people of the state.
