Tripura CM launches Urban Polyclinic, 5 other health centres

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated an Urban Polyclinic at AD Nagar as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to expand accessible and quality healthcare services closer to people’s homes.

At the same programme, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated new buildings of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs at Radhanagar, Dhaleswar, Jagaharimura, Ujan Abhoynagar and Ramakrishna Shivalaya Ashram.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said providing accessible healthcare to the common people remains one of the key priorities of the state government. 

He said the government is strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure while developing modern health facilities in different parts of the state.

The Chief Minister said around 1,110 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have already been inaugurated across Tripura, which has helped make primary healthcare more accessible to people in both rural and urban areas. These facilities, he added, are also creating greater opportunities for residents to access a range of healthcare services locally.

Highlighting improvements in the state’s healthcare infrastructure, Dr. Saha said the number of patients being referred outside Tripura for treatment has declined significantly in recent years.

According to figures cited by the Chief Minister, 555 patients were referred outside the state in 2023. The number declined to 495 in 2024 and further to 366 in 2025. In 2026, the figure has so far come down to 161, he said.

Dr. Saha attributed the decline to the expansion of advanced treatment facilities and healthcare infrastructure within the state.

He said the government is continuing its efforts to make Tripura’s healthcare system more modern and people-oriented, with emphasis on infrastructure development at every level, from primary healthcare to advanced and specialised treatment.

The programme was attended by MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, West Tripura Chief Medical Officer Shankar Chakraborty, senior officials of the Health Department, elected representatives and other dignitaries.
