World Bank team reviews TRESP implementation in Tripura’s Jampuijala block

A high-level team from the World Bank, along with experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization, carried out a field inspection in Tripura’s Jampuijala RD Block to review the implementation of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), officials said.

The delegation visited multiple project sites and interacted with Producer Groups (PGs) engaged in agriculture, horticulture and fisheries to assess the impact of the initiative, which is being implemented by the Tribal Welfare Department.

During the visit to Risha Agri and Horti PG and Hamjora Fishery PG, members shared their experiences under the project, including improvements in income, access to skills training and market linkages, officials said.

The team also held interactions with Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) and training centres to review institutional mechanisms and capacity-building initiatives under TRESP. The discussions focused on strengthening community institutions and promoting livelihood diversification for sustained income generation.

Officials said the visiting delegation noted the role of integrated interventions such as skill development, institutional support and diversified livelihood activities in enhancing economic opportunities in tribal areas.

The team reviewed the functioning of grassroots-level institutions and emphasised the need to further expand livelihood options to scale up income generation, they said.

TRESP, a project under the Tribal Welfare Department, is aimed at promoting sustainable livelihood models in tribal regions by strengthening community-based organisations and improving access to resources and services.

The inspection concluded with an overall review of project implementation at the field level, officials said, adding that the delegation shared feedback with implementing agencies for further improvement.

There was no immediate response from the department on any changes following the review.
