50-bed Agartala Civil Hospital now ready for opening: Kiran Gitte

The proposed 50-bed Agartala Civil Hospital is now ready for opening and its inauguration will soon take place, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said on Friday.

He along with Mayor Dipak Majumder and other officials inspected the new facility and infrastructure.

Speaking to the reporters, Gitte said, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha had taken the decision for the new health facility and it's foundation stone was laid in April, last year.

Necessary arrangements have been made and doctors and other medical staff have been given posting for opening of the hospital. The funding for developing the hospital has been made from NHM.

"We have already given posting to seven doctors and other paramedical staff. Initially, this hospital will function under he supervision of Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital, Agartala. We want the people who need primary care to visit either this hospital or Urban PHC and the patients in need of specialist service will go to the GBP and IGM Hospitals," the Health Secretary said.

He said the hospital will have modern facilities including oxygen plant, parking zone and emergency unit. The schedule for inauguration will be finalized soon after receiving consent from the Chief Minister, he noted.

Mayor Dipak Majumder said, the new hospital has been developed under the Agartala Municipal Corporation to reduce load on the GBP and IGM Hospitals.

This hospital will plan an important role in delivery healthcare to the people. The inaugural ceremony is likely to be held in the current month, the Mayor said.
