In a major breakthrough, Dharmanagar police have busted a bike theft racket, recovering nine stolen motorcycles and arresting the alleged mastermind behind the operation.
Â
The investigation began after a complaint was lodged at Dharmanagar police station (Case No. 25/2026) regarding a stolen bike. Acting swiftly, police traced leads to Anand Bazaar, where a raid uncovered nine stolen motorcycles hidden in the area. Officers described the recovery as âunexpectedly large,â underscoring the scale of the racket.
Â
The accused, Ram Debnath, a resident of West Tilthai Noabasha and son of Churamani Debnath, was arrested on charges of masterminding the thefts. His detention has sparked relief among residents, many of whom rushed to the police station in hopes of reclaiming their missing vehicles.
Â
District officials have praised the operation. North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai commended Dharmanagar police for their vigilance and efficiency, noting that the recovery has restored public confidence. Authorities are now probing whether others were involved in the network.

The successful crackdown has brought a measure of relief to victims of bike theft in the region, while police continue to investigate the wider links of the gang.
