Industrial visit on Agriculture trade organized for school students

As part of the implementation of NSQF-aligned Vocational Education across Tripura, an enriching industrial visit on Agriculture Trade was organized for the Class IX students of PM SHRI South Jumerdhepa High School, Sepahijala District.

The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to agriculture-related activities, workplace practices and real-world applications of vocational learning. 

According to a press note, the visit helped students connect their classroom learning with actual agricultural practices and understand the importance of agriculture as a skill-based and employment-oriented sector.

The industrial visit was conducted under the guidance of the Vocational Trainer of Valeur Fabtex Pvt. Ltd., the appointed Vocational Training Provider (VTP) for the school. The initiative was carried out under the leadership of Ikram Hossen, State Coordinator of the organisation, in collaboration with the School and the School Education Department.

The initiative was part of the broader Vocationalisation of School Education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). NSQF-based vocational education aims to connect school education with skill development, employment opportunities, businesses and industry, enabling students to acquire practical and employment-related skills alongside their general education.

During 2025–26, the Project Approval Board (PAB) of Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI Scheme, Ministry of Education, Government of India, approved the introduction of NSQF-compliant vocational education in seven sectors across selected 191 Government High and Higher Secondary Schools of Tripura. 

The sectors include:  IT–ITeS, Electronics, Agriculture, Organised Retail, Power, Automotive and Telecom.

Among the 191 schools, vocational education was planned across different sectors, with 138 schools introducing the first sector and 53 schools adding a second sector where vocational education was already being implemented.

The programme is being implemented through Samagra Shiksha and the PM SHRI Scheme under the School Education Department, Government of Tripura, with the support of the Vocational Training Provider.

The Agriculture Trade Industrial Visit provided students with an opportunity to observe and understand vocational concepts beyond textbooks and classrooms. 

Such exposure encourages students to develop practical knowledge, workplace awareness, communication skills, problem-solving abilities and an understanding of career opportunities in the agriculture sector, the press release said.

The visit evidently reflects the core objective of vocational education—“Learning by Doing”—and contributes towards developing skilled, confident and career-ready students.
