Tripura MLA Paul Dangshu has marked a significant achievement by representing India at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit 2026 in Chicago, Illinois.Â
Â
Speaking after his return, Dangshu described the summit as “a great experience to once again be part of a global platform where legislators from different states, countries and political backgrounds come together to learn, exchange ideas and understand different approaches to governance.”
Â
The summit, attended by lawmakers and policymakers from across the world, offered a rare opportunity for elected representatives to share perspectives on governance, public policy, and administration.Â
Â
Dangshu highlighted that the exposure tours and study visits — including sessions at the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago — provided valuable insights into policymaking, foreign affairs, and diverse cultural approaches to governance.
Â
He noted that interacting directly with legislators, academics, and representatives from different countries was “a truly great learning experience,” helping him understand how innovative practices in administration can be adapted to strengthen public service delivery back home.
Â
Dangshu expressed gratitude to NCSL and NLC India for facilitating India’s participation, stressing that such international platforms not only allow exchange of experiences but also help legislators explore how new ideas can be applied in governance. “This will enable us to play a more effective role in policymaking and public service in the future,” he said.
Â
The summit has been widely recognised as a forum where legislators from varied backgrounds converge to discuss challenges and share solutions, reinforcing the importance of global exposure, policy innovation, and cross-cultural learning for India’s lawmakers.
