Tripura CM inaugurates, lays foundation stones for projects worth Rs. 45.18 cr in Unakoti district

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated six projects and laid the foundation stones for 12 projects, involving a total cost of Rs. 45.18 crore, aimed at accelerating development in Unakoti district.

Speaking at the programme held at Dalugaon Higher Secondary School ground, the Chief Minister said the state government was working to ensure that development was not confined to Agartala but reached people in the every part of Tripura.

He said government employees and elected representatives were working tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of development reached every section of society across the state.

The Chief Minister also assured that a trauma care centre would be opened in Unakoti district shortly. He further said steps would be taken to renovate the old hospital in the district to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

Dr. Saha said he had personally inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth around Rs. 1,500 crore during the previous financial year. In the current financial year, people-centric projects worth around Rs. 440 crore have so far been inaugurated or launched through foundation stone-laying programmes across different districts.

He said that since 2022, a total of 56 projects worth Rs. 197.68 crore had been inaugurated or launched in Unakoti district. With the projects taken up today, the district has received an additional Rs. 45.18 crore worth of development initiatives.

The Chief Minister also launched 'Clean and Green Unakoti' initiative. Highlighting Unakoti's tourism potential, the Chief Minister said the archaeological heritage site of Unakoti is renowned across the world. He added that discussions were underway on reopening Kailashahar Airport to facilitate easier travel for tourists visiting the destination.

The Chief Minister also said that he had already signed files required for setting up a 100-bed Medical College at Ambassa.

Minister Tinku Roy, Unakoti Zilla Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, District Magistrate Megha Jain, other representatives and local residents were present at the programme.
