Ramakrishna Mission at Viveknagar in Tripura has distributed ration kits to widowed women as part of its “Shraddha” initiative aimed at supporting economically vulnerable mothers in local communities.
According to the organisers, the programme focuses on extending assistance to widowed women who often face neglect and lack of support within their families.
Under the initiative, ration kits meant for one month were distributed among hundreds of beneficiaries from different localities, officials associated with the programme said.
The distribution programme was conducted by the Viveknagar Ashrama, which stated that the initiative was part of its continued humanitarian service activities.
Representatives of the organisation said the ashrama, despite limited resources, has been carrying out various welfare activities for the benefit of people in need.
The organisers also attributed the continuation of such service initiatives to the ideals and inspiration of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda.
