After PM's call, Tripura govt orders austerity measures

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call urging citizens and institutions to conserve fuel and adopt work from home, the Tripura government has ordered austerity measures for reducing expenditure.

An official statement from the General Administration (Administrative Reforms) Department, Heads of Department (HoDs) will ensure that 50 per cent of Group C and D employees attend office every day, and the remaining 50 per cent staff should be instructed to work from home.

The memorandum also said, all HoDs were advised to draft a weekly roster of duty for Group C and D staff and ask them to attend office on alternate weeks. The HoDs were advised to include officials who are residing in close proximity to their office while deciding the roster for the first week.

The officials who are working from home on a particular day as per the roster drawn up should be available on telephone and electronic means of communication at all times. They should attend office, if called for any exigency of work.

Similar instructions were issued to PSUs, local bodies and other autonomous/statutory bodies and all other subordinate offices of the State Government. These instructions shall not be applicable to the offices and employees engaged in essential/emergency services.

This order undersigned by A.K.Bhattacharya, Special Secretary to the Government of Tripura, shall be applicable with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
