Siblings killed in lightning strike in Tripura's Nabincherra

In a tragic incident of lightning strike, two siblings lost their lives at Nabincherra area under Pecharthal police station in Tripura's Unakoti district on Saturday amid heavy rain and severe thunderstorm.

The deceased were identified as Sumanta Chakma (30) and his younger sister Mina Chakma (27).

Heavy rainfall accompanied by intense lightning began across the area from the afternoon. At the time of the incident, the siblings were inside their house when a sudden lightning strike critically injured them.

Family members immediately rushed the duo to a nearby hospital, where the attending doctors declared both of them dead.

The heart-breaking incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire locality. Grief-stricken family members and residents were seen mourning the untimely deaths of the two siblings.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a farmer was killed in a lighting strike in Kamalpur’s Methir Mia village on Friday. The deceased identified as Sushil Das reportedly went to the fields to bring his cows back amidst the rain.
