Tripura Chief Justice warns against Digital Overload, Urges students to embrace discipline

Sending a powerful message to the youth, Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, cautioned students about the dangers of excessive reliance on mobile phones and digital platforms, stressing that gadgets cannot replace discipline, focus and determination in the pursuit of education.

The Chief Justice was speaking at a felicitation ceremony hosted by Auxilium Girls’ School to felicitate CBSE Class X and XII toppers.

Addressing the gathering, Justice Rao noted that prolonged exposure to electronic media has been scientifically linked to declining concentration, weaker memory retention and reduced learning capacity.

He reminded students that success in academics is built on focused study, sustained effort, effective time management and resilience under stress. He urged them to treat education not merely as a race for marks but as a process of shaping character and preparing for life’s challenges. “In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson,” he remarked, underlining that shortcuts never lead to lasting success.

The Chief Justice also appealed to parents to avoid creating undue pressure around exam results, emphasizing the need for emotional support and a nurturing environment at home.

Congratulating the toppers, he praised their hard work and discipline, while acknowledging the crucial role of teachers and guardians in their achievements.

At the end, the meritorious students were felicitated for their achievements in academic field.
