Youth Congress marks Rahul Gandhi's Birthday with Statewide Plantation Drive in Tripura

The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress observed Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi’s birthday on Friday with a tree plantation programme at Gandhi Ghat in the capital, sending out a strong message of environmental protection and green development.

Led by Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha, party members and activists planted saplings of various species as part of the initiative. The organisation announced that similar drives would be undertaken across the state, with a target of planting nearly 900 trees to promote sustainability and raise awareness about ecological balance.

Speaking to the media, Saha said, “We wanted to make this day memorable by spreading the message of environmental conservation. Our aim is not just to plant trees but also to nurture them, ensuring a greener Tripura for the future.”

He also criticized the current government, alleging that indiscriminate deforestation and the handing over of natural resources to corporate interests were damaging the country’s ecological balance. The plantation drive, he said, was both a tribute to Rahul Gandhi’s birthday and a symbolic protest against environmental degradation.

The Youth Congress leadership emphasized that such programmes would continue in the coming days, reinforcing their commitment to environmental protection, community participation, and building a greener Tripura.
