Tripura BJP’s Social Media in-charge Arindam Deb has appealed to the state government to introduce a series of initiatives at the historic Chaturdasha Devata Temple aimed at promoting Tripura’s Sanatani cultural heritage and enriching the spiritual experience of devotees visiting the shrine.
In an open letter shared on social media, Deb addressed Tripura Tourism Minister and Khayerpur MLA, requesting measures that would further enhance the religious and cultural significance of the temple, which is regarded as one of the most important symbols of the state’s spiritual traditions.
Highlighting the importance of the temple and the traditional Kharchi Festival, which attracts thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across the country and abroad, Deb lauded the BJP-led government for undertaking beautification and development works at the temple premises over the years.
As a devotee and concerned citizen, he placed several proposals before the authorities for consideration. Among the key suggestions was the establishment of a permanent digital or audio-visual exhibition within the temple complex to educate visitors, especially younger generations, about the temple’s history, religious significance, and the origins of the fourteen deities worshipped there.
Deb also proposed further beautification of the temple’s adjoining water body, including the installation of illuminated fountains with a spiritual theme. According to him, such an initiative could significantly enhance the ambience of the temple premises during evening hours and create a more immersive devotional atmosphere.
He further suggested organizing regular devotional and religious programmes such as Bhajans, Naam Sankirtan, and spiritual discourses on special occasions and holidays to provide visitors with a deeper spiritual experience.
He stated that these additions would not only help preserve and promote Sanatani cultural traditions but also elevate the status of the Chaturdasha Devata Temple as a prominent pilgrimage destination. Increased footfall, he noted, could also provide economic benefits to local traders and businesses in the surrounding area.
Deb urged the Tourism Department and the local legislator to give due consideration to the proposals and take necessary steps through the concerned departments for their implementation.
