Tripura govt undertakes several initiatives to uplift socio-economic status of people: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the state government has undertaken a series of initiatives to improve the socio-economic condition of the people and remains committed to the welfare of the underprivileged sections of society. 

The Chief Minister made the remarks after inaugurating and laying foundation stones of 15 development projects in Dhalai district, including the newly constructed two-storey building of Halahali Higher Secondary School in Kamalpur. 

The projects inaugurated include the renovation of Ambassa Degree College, a two-storey building at Kamalpur English Medium Higher Secondary School, additional classrooms, a library and laboratory at Salema Higher Secondary School, two new Anganwadi Centres, a box culvert, three CC roads, a paver block road and two brick-paved roads.  

Dr. Saha also laid the foundation stones for the construction of the Salema Primary Health Centre and a bridge at Shantirbazar. 

Addressing a programme held at the premises of Halahali Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has been implementing various developmental projects across Tripura.

He noted that special emphasis has been placed on the development of the state's Aspirational Blocks. 

Highlighting achievements in the education sector, Dr. Saha said Tripura has already been recognised as the country’s third fully literate state.

He stated that several initiatives are being implemented to improve the quality of education, including Smart Classes, Nipun Tripura and the distribution of bicycles to girl students.  

He also said that construction work for 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools is underway to enhance educational opportunities for tribal students. 

The Chief Minister said healthcare services in the state have improved significantly compared to previous years. Through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, access to healthcare has been ensured for all sections of society, he added. 

Dr. Saha further said that various central and state government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM-KISAN and PM-JANMAN, have helped extend benefits to people across different sections of society. He also highlighted the importance accorded by Prime Minister Modi to women’s empowerment and said the state government has taken several measures in that direction. 

According to the Chief Minister, around 55,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed in the state, with more than five lakh women associated with them.  

He also referred to schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana aimed at empowering women and girls. 

Stating that Tripura has received 350 national awards for its performance and achievements, Dr. Saha said that NITI Aayog has also appreciated the work being carried out by the state government. He called upon all sections of society to actively participate in the state's development journey. 

MLA Manoj Kanti Deb delivered the vote of thanks, while Dhalai District Magistrate delivered the welcome address. During the programme, the Chief Minister also flagged off eight garbage collection vehicles under the Swachh Bharat Mission. 

Among those present were Dhalai Zilla Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Swapna Das Paul, Education Secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke, Special Secretary of the Social Welfare and Social Education Department Tapan Kumar Das, Superintendent of Police and other officials.
