In a determined push to raise the quality of education across Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has directed the Education Department to conduct regular monitoring of schools, with a special focus on rural institutions. Acting on this directive, senior officials have begun a series of ground-level reviews to assess teaching standards and student learning outcomes.
Â
On Tuesday, Education Secretary Milind Ramteke chaired a major review session at Ambassa Town Hall, meeting with headmasters and headmistresses from nearly 400 schools across Ambassa and Longtarai Valley subdivisions. The schools represented included junior and senior basic institutions, high schools, and higher secondary schools spread across the blocks of Ambassa, Manu, and Chhamanu.
Â
The meeting centered on strengthening foundational learning for students, ensuring that basic skills in reading, writing, and comprehension are firmly established. Ramteke urged teachers to adopt individual monitoring of students and to conduct fortnightly evaluations to track progress. He emphasized that quality education must reach every child, regardless of whether they study in urban or rural settings.
Â
Discussions also touched on teaching methods, classroom practices, and challenges faced by educators in remote areas. Officials highlighted the need for consistent oversight and accountability to bridge the rural-urban education gap.
Â
The session was attended by Dhalai District Magistrate and Collector Vivek H. B., Sub-Divisional Magistrates, district education officers, and school inspectors.Â
Â
The Education Department confirmed that similar review meetings will be held regularly across all districts and subdivisions, making monitoring a continuous process rather than a one-time exercise.
