A sudden blaze tore through the bustling Office Lane near the Agartala court complex late Monday, leaving seven shops completely gutted and traders counting heavy losses.Â
Â
The fire, which broke out around nightfall, spread quickly through the tightly packed commercial stretch. While firefighters managed to bring the flames under control, the cause of the incident and the full extent of damages remain under investigation.
Â
On Tuesday morning, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar visited the charred site, accompanied by senior officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. He was joined by Corporator Jahnabi Das Choudhury, Town Bardowali Mandal president Shyamal Kumar Deb, and other top administrative officers.
Â
The Mayor spoke directly with the affected shopkeepers, listening to their concerns and assuring them of immediate relief. He announced that primary government assistance will be arranged within two days to support those whose livelihoods were destroyed.Â
Â
Majumdar further emphasized that once a comprehensive damage assessment is completed, the state government, under the Chief Minister’s guidance, will extend full humanitarian support.
Â
“The administration will stand beside the affected traders with all necessary measures, ensuring they are not left alone in this crisis,” Majumdar said, pledging swift action.
