
A high-level delegation led by Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Meera Srivastava concluded a three-day visit to Tripura to review the implementation of national health programmes and assess the delivery of healthcare services in three districts, officials said on Friday.
The visit, which began on July 01, covered Unakoti, South Tripura and Sepahijala districts, with a focus on healthcare infrastructure, public health programmes and field-level implementation.
In Unakoti district, Srivastava chaired a review meeting at the Kailashahar Circuit House with District Magistrate Megha Jain and the Chief Medical Officer. The delegation later visited Latiapur Sub-Centre and Deorachhara Sub-Centre to assess maternal and child health services, immunisation programmes and the implementation of various initiatives under the National Health Mission (NHM).
The delegation also interacted with healthcare workers and reviewed the delivery of services at the grassroots level. Officials accompanying the joint secretary included NHM Mission Director Dr Souvik Debbarma, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Antara Banik, State Programme Officer (RCH) Dr Ishita Guha and World Health Organization State Medical Officer Dr Randeep Saha.
On July 02, the delegation reviewed healthcare services in South Tripura district during a meeting attended by the District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer and other health officials. Discussions covered immunisation, malaria control and the progress of various national health programmes.
The team later visited the Bashkadua Ayushman Arogya Mandir under Amjadnagar Gram Panchayat in Matai Primary Health Centre, where it interacted with health staff and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and reviewed immunisation and other healthcare services. The delegation also visited areas along the India-Bangladesh border to assess healthcare delivery before inspecting patient care, medical infrastructure and implementation of government health schemes at Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The delegation also visited Sepahijala district on July 02, where it was received by district health officials, including the Chief Medical Officer, District Family Welfare Officer, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer of Sonamura Sub-Divisional Hospital and the Medical Officer-in-Charge of Kathalia Community Health Centre.
At Bashpukur Sub-Centre, the delegation reviewed immunisation coverage and other public health services and interacted with healthcare workers and ASHAs. Srivastava also reviewed the implementation of healthcare services at the field level and provided directions for strengthening health service delivery, officials said.
