Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s life and philosophy continue to inspire the vision of an inclusive society rooted in Integral Humanism, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Friday. 

He said Upadhyaya’s vision of ‘Antyodaya’, which places the development and welfare of people at the last mile of society at the forefront, remains a source of inspiration. Guided by his ideals and philosophy, the government is working towards the holistic development of every section of society.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing a programme organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

The programme began with floral tributes being offered to the portrait of Upadhyaya by the dignitaries present.

Among those attending the programme were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya,  local corporators and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister recalled various aspects of Upadhyaya’s life, work and philosophy. He described him as a great thinker and visionary philosopher whose ideas on Indian society, culture and the improvement of people’s lives made a significant contribution to the country’s social and political thought.

Highlighting the concept of ‘Antyodaya’, the Chief Minister said Upadhyaya had emphasised the development and welfare of people at the last mile of society. He said this approach continues to remain relevant and called for drawing inspiration from his ideals while working for the welfare of the people.

Speakers at the programme also highlighted Upadhyaya’s simple lifestyle, patriotism, organisational abilities and his thoughts on the upliftment of disadvantaged sections of society.

The birth anniversary programme witnessed the participation of party workers, supporters and members of the public. Through floral tributes and commemorative proceedings, the gathering paid homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and recalled his contribution to public life and social thought.
