
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released the 23rd installment of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi from a programme in West Bengal on Saturday.
Around 9.44 lakh farmers from across the country have received total amount of Rs. 18,880 crore directly in their bank accounts.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, over 2.16 lakh farmers of the state received the benefit (financial assistance of Rs. 43.32 crore) as the 23rd installment.
He said, in the 2018-19 financial year Rs. 30.37 crore was transferred into the accounts of 1.51 lakh farmers in the state.
The Chief Minister along with Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, virtually witnessed the release of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi installment from State Agriculture Research Station, A.D. Nagar.Â
Later speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, the state government aims to increase the income of farmers of the state.Â
He narrated, increased income of farmers leads to the development of a village. A developed village means development of the state and the country. There was a time when the farmers used to be burdened with loan while cultivating their land. With the objective of getting the farmers out of this burden of loan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched this scheme.Â
Participating in the programme, the Chief Minister also said that the state government has been implementing various schemes since 2018 to double the income of farmers and ensure their socio-economic development.Â
So far many schemes have been implemented toward this direction. Through the procurement of paddy from the farmers, more than Rs. 529 crore has been transferred into the bank accounts of farmers. Due to the proper implementation of different schemes of the central and state governments like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Krishi Vikash Yojana etc., agricultural production has increased and so has increased the income of the farmers.
The state government has emphasised enhancement of fertility of agricultural land. So far over 2.53 lakh Soil Health Cards have been distributed. Various agricultural machineries have been provided to the farmers with a subsidy of Rs. 233.63 crore.Â
Today's programme was also attended by acting Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zila Parishad Biswajit Shil, other representatives of the Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and officials of the agriculture department.
