The Tripura Pradesh Congress has sharply criticized the central government over repeated exam paper leaks, alleged irregularities, and growing unemployment, calling the situation a “national crisis” affecting millions of students and youth.
Â
Party leaders highlighted that in the past decade, over 1.5 crore schoolchildren dropped out due to poverty and despair, while 89 paper leaks and 48 re-examinations have shaken public trust. The Congress alleged that despite mounting evidence of malpractice, the government has failed to take responsibility, leading to widespread frustration and even suicides among talented students.
Â
The press note pointed to the recent NEET paper leak and the announcement of a re-test on June 21, accusing the National Testing Agency of negligence. It claimed that “cosmetic changes” such as replacing directors or introducing new systems have only worsened corruption, allowing coaching centers and private operators to profit.
Â
Congress leaders also linked the crisis to broader failures in education and employment. They noted that despite promises under Make in India, job creation targets have collapsed, with unemployment rates at 9.7% nationally and 14.7% in Tripura. Official figures show 9.64 lakh vacancies in central departments and 56,000 in Tripura’s government offices, yet recruitment remains stalled.
Â
The statement further alleged that the government’s flagship schemes — including PM Mudra Yojana and PM Employment Generation Programme — have failed, while startups are shutting down. Even in railways, 3.45 lakh posts remain vacant, with over 2 crore applications for just 6,200 Group D posts.
Â
Tripura Congress accused the BJP of deliberately weakening public education, citing reduced budget allocations and declining government schools. They argued that the “double engine government” has fostered corruption in exams, including the recent TPSC lecturer recruitment test, which allegedly violated norms.
Â
The party demanded accountability at the highest level, insisting that the Union Education Minister should resign immediately. They recalled past precedents of ministers stepping down on moral grounds, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act responsibly.
Â
The release concluded by calling for continuous nationwide protests to restore faith in the system, asserting that the BJP’s policies are creating “slaves and loyalists” instead of nurturing talent and innovation.
