Santana's visit to Bhubaneshwar aims to shape Tripura's World Skill Center

In a decisive step toward reshaping Tripura’s skill development landscape, Minister for Industries and Commerce Shantana Chakma on Saturday visited the prestigious World Skill Center (WSC) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The visit, accompanied by senior officials from the Directorate of Skill Development, Tripura, was aimed at exploring collaboration opportunities and adopting best practices to guide Tripura’s own ambitious project — the World Skill Center and Employability Hub at Hapania, Agartala.

Officials confirmed that the Bhubaneswar tour was designed to study proven models of excellence and identify strategies that can be replicated in Tripura.

Minister Chakma emphasized that the insights gained will directly shape the planning and execution of the Hapania hub, ensuring it meets global standards of training and employability.

"The upcoming hub is envisioned as a landmark initiative under the PM DevINE Scheme of the Government of India. Plans feature a G+11 building spread across more than 3 lakh sq. ft., equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced training facilities, and modern technology. It will be one of the largest skill development projects ever undertaken in Tripura", she said.

Chakma reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Tripura government is deeply committed to equipping its youth with world-class skills.

She said the project will foster global employability, attract industry partnerships, and transform Tripura into a premier hub for talent, innovation, and opportunity.

Officials highlighted that the Employability Hub will serve as a bridge between education and employment. It is expected to empower thousands of young people to compete at both national and international levels, while also creating pathways for industry collaboration and innovation.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar visit is seen as a crucial step in ensuring that Tripura’s project benefits from established models of excellence. With construction plans already underway, the state is poised to redefine its skill development ecosystem, turning ambition into reality and positioning Tripura as a rising hub of talent in the region.
