The West Tripura District Police has imposed some restrictions on making reels and social media contents by Police/ TSR personnel in uniform.Â
According to a memorandum issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, Police Uniform shall not be used for personal publicity, entertainment purposes, commercial promotion, or any activity that may bring disrepute to the department.Â
"Any objectionable, derogatory, or inappropriate content involving Police personnel in uniform noticed on social media platforms shall be immediately reported through the proper channel for necessary action," the memorandum stated.Â
The members of Police Force have been directed not to create, participate in, or upload reels, videos, photographs, or any other social media content while wearing uniform since it may undermine the dignity, decorum, discipline, or image of Tripura Police.Â
Any violation of these instructions shall be viewed seriously and shall attract strict departmental action against the concerned personnel in accordance with the relevant disciplinary rules, the memorandum said.Â
The decision came after the authority noticed that some members of the Police Force were creating and uploading reels, short videos, and other social media contents while wearing police uniform.Â
The Police Uniform is a symbol of authority, discipline, integrity, and public trust. Every member of the Police Force is expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and conduct while in uniform, it added.
