Tripura: BJP Worker abducted and assaulted in Udaipur's Garji area, Tension grips locality

A BJP worker was allegedly abducted and assaulted in Udaipur’s Garji area, sparking tension across the locality. The victim has been identified as Raju Dey, who was reportedly attacked by members and supporters of the TIPRA Motha’s Minority Cell.

 

According to the complaint, Raju was returning home from work on Sunday evening when he was forcibly taken to a deserted spot in Dataram Mayapuri. There, he was beaten and his gold chain was snatched. Acting on information from locals, police from Garji Outpost launched a swift operation and rescued him nearly two hours later.

 

A formal complaint has been lodged at Radha Kishorepur Police Station, and an investigation is underway. The victim has alleged that the assault was linked to previous political clashes, suggesting that the attack may have been motivated by rivalry.

 

The incident has left the area tense, with residents expressing concern over the escalation of political violence. Authorities are maintaining close watch to prevent further unrest.
