Santirbazar witnessed yet another tragic road accident on Tuesday, underscoring the growing concern over frequent mishaps across the state.
Â
At the busy Tri-Junction area, a Maruti car (registration number TR 01 BW 0498), reportedly traveling from Agartala towards Santirbazar, rammed into two stationary motorcycles — a Pulsar (TR 08 H 6713) and a Splendor (TR 08 F 5362). The impact left both riders, Dinesh Das (30) of Kalabari and Bapi Das (24) of Maichhara, critically injured.
Â
Eyewitnesses said the collision threw the victims onto the road, prompting locals to rush them to Santirbazar District Hospital. Doctors, citing their grave condition, referred them to Agartala GB Hospital for advanced treatment.
Â
Police from Santirbazar station, along with a forensic team, arrived at the scene to investigate. Preliminary findings suggest driver negligence as the cause. The vehicle is registered under Dr. Pradip Pal, though reports indicate the driver fled immediately after the accident. Rumors circulating locally allege that the escape may have been facilitated with police assistance, a claim now under scrutiny.
Â
Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine accountability and ensure justice for the victims.
