CM condemns Rahul Gandhi’s dharna, says India is not Nepal or Bangladesh
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday condemned Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s move to stage protests in front of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence and reminded the opposition that ‘India’ is not Nepal or Bangladesh.
Briefing the media persons at the party state headquarters ahead of the crucial organisational meeting, the Chief Minister said, “Rahul Gandhi’s move is being condemned all over the country and I also do the same. Instead of participating in the parliament debates, the Congress is creating ruckus in a high security zone like the PM's official residence. In democracy, protest is a language of dissent but that is not the only thing. Initially, the opposition refused to participate in the parliament proceedings demanding a debate on NEET paper leaks. When the government accepted their demand, they asked for the resignation of the Education Minister. So, Rahul Gandhi is taking U-turns as and when he likes.”
Stating there is a structure in the protests, Dr Saha said, “A minister went to convince them to lift the dharna but they refused. What I personally feel, the Congress is doing all this for their survival. The Congress and the entire INDI alliance is suffering from an existential crisis and they are trying to repeat the formula of Bangladesh and Nepal. But, the fact is India is not Nepal or Bangladesh. The videos I have come across in social media indicate that the presence of non-students is higher in the protest sites than the students.”
On the organisational meeting, Dr Saha said, “The main purpose of the meeting is to congratulate the new functionaries of the state committee. For some time, the committees were not getting declared. Now, since the state committee has been officially announced, all other committees shall also be declared soon. We are ready to go to the people with our report card success stories. Our political approach is totally different. Our primary objective is service to mankind.”
