Contractors' Association demands immediate clearance of pending bills from TSECL

Mounting financial distress among contractors working under the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has led to a direct appeal to the corporation’s Managing Director, with the Contractors’ Association submitting a memorandum on Thursday demanding urgent payment of bills pending for nearly two years.

Association members said despite completing multiple development and electricity infrastructure projects over the past two years, their dues remain unpaid. This has left contractors struggling to pay workers’ wages, settle accounts with suppliers, and manage day‑to‑day operations. Many are reportedly burdened with debt and facing severe financial pressure.

During their meeting with the TSECL Managing Director, representatives of the association pressed for: Immediate clearance of pending bills; Timely settlement of future payments; Resolution of contractors’ operational difficulties without delay.

They stressed that without urgent intervention, the situation could escalate further, affecting not only contractors but also the progress of ongoing electricity projects across the state.

The association expressed hope that the corporation would take their demands seriously and act swiftly. However, they also warned that if payments are not released soon, they may be compelled to launch a larger agitation to press for their rights.
