Tripura BJP president calls for discipline, unity among Karyakartas

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy on Wednesday urged Karyakartas to uphold unity, discipline and selfless service, asserting that these values are the foundation of the organization’s growth.

Addressing party leaders and workers during his first visit to Sonamura sub-division under the BJP's Sepahijala (South) organisational district after assuming charge as state president, Debroy also declared that preparations for the 2028 Tripura Assembly elections had effectively begun.

Speaking for over 30 minutes, Debroy said the BJP is functioning on five core principles and stressed that serving people must remain the party's highest priority.

He advised party representatives not to make citizens run from office to office unnecessarily and asked them to clearly inform people if a particular issue could not be resolved.

The state BJP chief also called upon party leaders to treat workers at every level with dignity and respect, while laying special emphasis on ensuring that women are always treated with honour and that no complaints of disrespect arise.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him on his maiden visit to Sonamura after taking over as state president, Debroy reminded party members that every organisational or government position is earned through the party's trust and nomination.

He urged all leaders and elected representatives to remain loyal to the organisation and work in close coordination with the administration, adding that the BJP is in power and aims to continue serving the people in the years ahead.

In a pointed message to those allegedly misusing the party's name for personal gain, Debroy said money and the influence of power are not everything. Without naming anyone, he cautioned those engaging in profiteering in the party's name to exercise restraint.

He also urged party workers not to criticise the organisation or its office-bearers in public places such as homes, tea stalls or streets. Instead, he asked them to submit specific complaints through proper organisational channels, assuring that every grievance would be examined impartially.

Highlighting the BJP's organisational culture, Debroy reminded leaders holding party or government posts that no position is permanent.

Declaring that the campaign for the 2028 Assembly elections had begun with Wednesday's meeting, Debroy called upon party workers to ensure victory in the Sonamura Assembly constituency in the next election. His appeal was endorsed by the party’s Sepahijala (South) district president Prasenjit Ghosh.

Earlier in the day, on his arrival in Sonamura, Debroy paid floral tributes to the statues of Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
